WishBasses?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Macbeth56, Jan 5, 2004.

  1. If you havent been there...

These basses look sweet! I have done a basic drawling of a bass that I would love and it would be very cheap. I am wanting a 6 string fretless to mess around on, and this thing would have 1 soapbar pickup and a volume knob and tone knob, do you think it would be a quality bass.. it would most likely be under 500. Do you guys think this is worth it? The one I drew isnt as crazy as the ones on the site.. but it still is pretty sweet looking, maybe I will upload some pics after i scan them. Has anyone ever got one? Or used one, or known anyone that has had one? THANKS!

Plenty of threads on Mr Wishy on here... mostly bad. Do a search. There was also a Wishbass bought by members of TB that did the rounds. But to summarise... lack of truss rods, necks like baseball bats, horrible routing jobs, glue joints coming unstuck... but, on the plus side, there's talk of nice fretless tone and the original body shapes.

    Munji, Your restraint is admirable!

As XOB said, do a search. 'Nuff said.

  5. when i did a search nothing came up.. i have the body shape i want.. but i hear that they do have crappy routing jobs. I want this or a warmoth.. but a warmoth would be al ot of money.. and i dont know how to do it all..

  6. Back away from the wish.

For the love of god, don't even consider it.

I've played a wish, it felt and sounded disgusting.

But, it was only one. Maybe the rest are awesome. ;)

  7. haha.. i am now.

i want a warmoth, les paul body style.
what kind of pickups should i do on it.. i can get it with no pickups and i choose them, or I can get it with 1 musicman pickup.. which would sound betteR?

Indeed. And slightly better than a Wish, from all reports.

Just wondering....ABOUT how much would warmoth charge for a custom body? are we looking in the 700 to 900 range? Just wondering if it would be worth my while to send my design to warmoth or just make it myself.

I always though it would be cool if Warmoth or someone else would sell a rectangular body blank, with a centerline drawn and pickup routes and a Fender pocket already done.
