With the iPod Classic gone, what are my options for a comparable MP3 Player?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Thunderscreech, Dec 18, 2014.

  1. According to Apple, parts were unavailable, which I sort of believe, but why not upgrade it with 128 (or greater) gigabyte internal flash storage, or do SOMETHING so I don't have to replace mine (when it needs replacing) with a measly 64 Gig iPod Touch?

So, what are the comparable options out there? Do they even exist? Aside from putting a 128 microSD card in my Sandisk player, what can I do to get a large volume of storage for songs in a small package?

How about any of the tousands of mp3 players in existence? :) It doesn't have to say "Apple" on it to be good, really!

I think that's what the OP was asking. Perhaps a recommendation?

Well, if your music is in iTunes other players are a real hassle.

Sucks to have all of your stuff tied up in an app and ecosystem, doesn't it? ;) So much for that cloud!

Yeah, is there a way to use iTunes on non apple products? Or export them to other services?

  13. I wanted an old iPod for my car awhile back, but after an EBay search I decided CDs are just fine. The prices on the old classics with the hdd's are insane right now, even for a friggin broken one!

Yeah, I sold my old 120GB a few months ago for $50. I wish now I held into it longer.

    Dear OP,

    In answer to your question:

Step 1: Choose just about any smart phone in existence

    Step 2: Enjoy music

  16. That's what I'm saying, old Classics are going for big bucks.
I'll have to take a look at these for sure.
It's not so much tied up as it is that I like that iTunes organizes the file system for me; I try to avoid buying music off of iTunes if I can help it because DRM.
Not that I know of, unless you burn the DRM-protected music to a CD and then re-rip it. As to MP3 players, I think iTunes only "plays" with iPods, you have to do everything manually with something else, and I did when I had my Sandisk Fuze+
