Gotta give the kid props...saw some vids from Van Halen's show at Cafe Wha' last week, and it looks like Wolfie's actually playing this time, and he ain't bad at all. Plays solid time, can do fancy stuff, even looks more comfortable onstage and not so forced with his teenage rock and roll histrionics of the last tour.

I still think they screwed Mikey, but at least Wolfie's proving to be a very capable bassist whose style is working for VH.

    Respek, Wolfie.

  2. I agree, Jimmy.

I thought his timing was "spot-on".

I really like Mikey, but the kid has come a long way:)

Can he hit the high harmonies?

Sounds good. After all he is his fathers son. Eddie must be the most creative and groovy guitar player of all time.

  5. The clips I seen were difficult to pick out the backing vocals. DLR sounded a bit strained. He is PUSHING 60, though (which sure beats DRAGGING 60):D

    Not sure...probably not ;)

  7. Yep. The nut doesn't fall far from the tree. Definitely a LOT of potential there.

Theres another thread about it around here someplace. I was never a huge VH fan but Im digging the tone he's getting from those new Tube Fender heads.

I agree. While I still hate what happened to Mike, I think Wolfie
was sounding very good. He style is fitting right into the VH music.
We shouldn't be surprised - I'm sure his teacher is - Ed.

Anybody downloaded the new single yet? I did.

A very radio friendly hook. Dave's voice and lyrics keep it from going into Van hagar territory. Chorus is cool. Eddie sounds good overall but kind of processed, not Brown.
But What the heck? It's new VH and I am itching to hear the rest. I'll bet the album treatment of She's the Woman will be huge sounding.

BTW, I saw another video and noticed that Wolfie had a vocal mic and was at least appearing to sing backgrounds. Couldn't hear much out of the vocals on those vids, though...did they not have a PA on that gig? ;)

You have to put it in context - they're never going to be the guys in their 20s again.

  19. Alex must be getting old. He's not bringing as many drums to the gig.

Except for Wolfie, that is! And while I absolutely think Michael Anthony got a huge FU and it isn't the same without his high harmonies, Wolfie is a Van Halen after all and he's doing a damn good job.
