Okay, I don't have it yet but it is done!!!!

Check out my new bass built by Luthier Bud LeCompte!

(The link is in my sig.)

As soon as I get some studio pics I will post them also. I am sure they will be available on Bud's website.

Right now it is strung with DR Black Beauties. Dang! It sure looks cool! Maybe I will have him just leave them on instead of putting on the Low Riders. What do y'all think?

    Oh my God. IT'S BEAUTIFUL!

And when I get it I will put up a few sound samples on the website. I'll keep you posted.

    WOO HOO!!!!!!!

Beautiful bass. I really like the pickguard, but not too sure about the upper bout.

I know what you mean about the upper bout. When Bud first came out with this design I was kind of ambivalent about it.

Over time I started to go back and check it out more often. It really bagan to grow on me. Then the next thing I knew, I had to have one. I really like the way it gives you an almost subliminal impression of being a single cut but is still, without a doubt a double cut.

To me the whole package is a truly awesome mix of modern and traditional design.

But hey, that's why I bought the danged thing!

Bud is a very talented individual.

    *DOH*

    Probably up to 2 weeks.

    :bawl:

I just sent the balance of the payment off so he should get it in a couple of days but Bud wanted to hang onto it for a week or so for final tweaking purposes.

Man, I am SO looking forward to getting this thing.

Bud mentioned that you really like the PT-4. Are you thinking of buying it?

I would love to buy it, but it is not for sale... Since it is the Prototype, Bud just loaned it to me to demo for a while. I really do like it.

I have been taking both it and the F-Bird to my gigs and I get at least one person asking about them every show.

Bud has another bass in the works that I have expressed and interest in, but he has not finished it yet, I'm hoping I might get first dibs on it :D

I need to take another trip out to Buds shop to see the goodies and I would love to see yours in person before it ships...if it is like his others, the pics may look good but the basses look even better in person :hyper:

If you give it a chance, it will sink it's soft delicate hooks into you and draw you in.

    Come into the fold...

I'll bet you $100 he'd be willing to make you one!

    I am so not surprised.

What's he calling it? The Shredder? The Knuckle Banger? The Meat Grinder? I don't remember. Or are you talking about the Hot Rod bass?

If you get a chance, take a look at it in the sunlight.

    It's special that way.

Glad you're pleased with the looks, Joe. Still needs a few adjustments here and there. I should have it dialed in soon. As for the upper horn, whether folks like it or not, I'll swear up and down that I came up with the design all on my own after trying to come up with a single cut idea. Though since I've built the prototype I've seen similar designs recently from Carey Nordstrand, Pete Skjold, David King and another builder, who's name escapes me at the moment. There must have been something in the bass building "force" floating around. Since my design didn't make it to a full single cut model with this one and it's not really a double cut it got the tag '1.5'. Here it is in a six string, for all you multi-stringulist.

Anyway, your bass was a blast to build, Joe. We should have it heading your way in about a week.

    Thanks!

  19. Great job Bud!!! I like it alot. I think the upper bout gives it kind of an agressive look. Congrats Joe!!!
