Does anyone know (or know a link to) what the different tonal qualitys of various woods are? I'm curious as to the real woods (Maple, basswood, ash) vs. the synthetic ones, ergo agathis (I think that's it) and luthite. Just wondering.

this is the most extensive collection of wood pictures that i have come across, although they don't talk about the tones of the woods at all...

there are 10 pages of thumbnails for different woods, from light colored to dark colored.

  5. Wheee! Finally found what I was looking for! I must've overlooked it every other time I was searching for it. :D

Anyway, with the help of these sites, I can finally start thinking more seriously about my Extended Essay!
The IB coordinator at my school told me what a wonderful thing it was that I had already found a topic to write about, that I was actually INTERESTED in. :D:D:D:D

I haven't found a tonal description of myrtle wood. Anyone know where one is, or what the tone might be?
