Thats sweet! Looks like they'd be pretty expensive, but a hat to match an exotic body top would be killer. :) I imagine that they'd be quite brittle though.

You wonder where these guys get their ideas...

BTW, where did you find that link?

I did a google image search for "spalted" halfway down the page pops up the spalted cowboy hat...

As for being expensive, $300+ is in the range for a *great* felt cowboy/western wear hat... not that I wanted to know, but living in Texas it's part of the culture. I was in a friends weding that was western themed and my groomsman's gift was a hat... a 4x black felt job that cost around $100. The groom was given a 30x Stetson that was tagged at nearly $600....

anyone that would spend that much on an inanamate object is a fool.:D

    savor the irony.....

    mmm mmm good.

  9. Methinks there's too many critters in that wood that could get to your scalp. I'll pass.

As for the hats - I wonder if you have to have a Terminix guy treat them annually???

If I was a millionaire I'd buy one...maybe even two.

not to match my bass(thats to tacky) but rather to show off to all the people that rely on polymer synthetic fibers and such for their hats :D
