Are there any good websites with information on tonalities of woods?
warmoth.com has a good page on woods.
I'm pretty sure the ken smith and acacia pages are more about how woods sound in their instruments.
Not so much about tone, but a good resource:
Here is a great article by Michael Tobias. It's about woods and other matters of bass construction. It's very educational.
Also, this page from Warmoth's website gives a good, quick, and to the point description of some woods that are commonly used in guitars and basses. At the left near the top, click on a button that says "Wood Descriptions." I like to use it for a quick reference.
Look through the threads on this forum. There has been a lot of discussion about the various woods that are used to build basses
http://www.frudua.com/ has a nice set of ideas - questionable, of course
