working on my MTD Z5 mod

    so what do you think so far I still might replace the pickups

    DSCF0883.
    DSCF0882.
    DSCF0881.
    DSCF0880.


    all black hipshot hardware including the o-rings
    aguilar opb-3 pre with active passive switch and mid selector
    soon those switches will be black also nobody locally had them

    what do you all think so far ?
     
  2. What about the neck blots and plate (if it has one)?

    Great mods so far! I have the Heir model that I put an OBP-3 in and it fits the bass really well. Keeps the modern vibe while beefing up the low-end. It's one of my favorite bass to record with. I guess that on your side it also helped the low-output pickups of the Z? I think a pair of Nordstrand Big Splits are worth considering...

    Did the Hipshot bridge was a direct replacement?

    I just got my MTD Z5 back last night from the shop with a new bart NTMB preamp and Nordy Big Splits. It is hard to express in words how much better this bass sounds now! I would recommend the Big Splits to you if you wish to swap-out the pickups.

    Nice work! Did you replace the bridge yourself? If so, was it hard to line up? I've been considering a Z5 mod myself.

    I did all of the work myself the bridge was not a direct replacement but I have installed about 10 of these so its not so hard

    I am still thinking about the barts but we will see what way I go when I decide to do it
