Yep. Michael Tobias sold Tobias Guitars to Gibson sometime in the '90s and then he started MTD...Kinda like the Leo Fender Fender/MusicMan/G&L legacy.

The first section really encapsulated how I feel about Fender; it was shocking to see that I agree with all these highly respected builders.

 

I`m slightly disappointed. Bass players and bass builders seem to be way too peaceful, I mean, they all just sat there and agreed with each other on almost nearly topic. Anyway, an interesting read, thanks

 

I remember when this was first published in Bass Player. How many of them were able to change with the market.
