worth the mod

    I have one, and IMO, it is well worth the aging price.

    IMGP2229a.

    The pic is as it came out of the box, but the only mods i made to mine was to replace the switch with a switchpot, making the controls VVT. I then added a switchpot in the tone position, wiring the 2 switches so that I could select, series, parallel, inner or outer coils for the pups.

    It is a solid platform and the stic stock pups are strong.

    are those pick ups propriety sized or regular sized

    It would be hard to tell without putting hands on it and trying it out. Overseas work is getting very good these days, and if the core instrument is good, it might be worth modding.

    If they have a good return policy, it might be worth a look.

    Without measuring, I will say that, as a rule, mfrs don't make unique pups for value basses, they use off-the-shelf OEMs.
