i was going to post this in "basses," but i figured i'd get blasted or schmiced for some reason i should have thought about, and i'm thinking it's funny anyway --- here goes:

just asking: mighty mite only makes/distributes a fretless P-bass neck. i have one (i like it!), but i prefer the jazz neck profiles over the p-bass profiles. the necks are well made and they swap out with no real issues, and best of all, compared to other 'neck makers', they are really affordable ($99-$119)
depending on your source, sale prices, yada yada.

so: i submitted a question to mighty mite regarding this: "will you be making a fretless ebonol j-style neck?" here is the response i got:

    from: Kim Schmitt <[email protected]>
    Dear Jim,
Thank you for your interest and suggestion.
There is no plan at this time; however,
we will discuss it at our next meeting.
    Regards,
    Mighty Mite

this really got my hopes up until i read these: threads regarding the influence of TB on manufacturers:
    Online forums' influence on manufacturers
    and,
When was the last time talk bass members

lots of good info and great opinions (all points of view) in both threads, but i'm posting this thread anyway! ha! ;)

    here's some old school/naive math:
if only 1% of the 244,846 TB members preferred an unlined, fretless ebonol j-style neck and were willing to post on this thread to say that: mighty mite, or any other manufacturer, would probably notice if just a few thousand bass players stated that they would be interested in the product: unlined, ebonol fretless J-bass neck, then:

    1. this thread would be huge.
    2. mighty mite just mite pay attention (which would change TB's status among manufacturers).
    3. i mite get my neck!
    4. you mite get one, too.

please post only positive, encouraging, advocacy oriented, results driven responses. please post them quickly as i have no idea when their "next meeting" is.

thanks, i'll owe you one. :roflmao:

Good luck with it. In the meantime have you tried to source a Squier VM fretless neck? It may be a little easier to accomplish.

    thanks!

i haven't seen an unlined fretless neck for the price of the new mighty mites. i have seen a lot of fender necks however. they are out there! i think most of the newer fb's are lined. but thanks for the encouragement!

It's a world economy, JRA, get your neck and whatever else you need from someone else. IF Mighty Mite isn't efficient enough in their manufacturing procedures to program their CNC's to make a batch of 25 just for $hitz and Giggles, along with satisfying a customer........F' em.

The recipe for what you want is like the one for ice cubes, it ain't like KFC's secret spices.

You're missing the carrots option, in given with the general theme of your poll entries, might I suggest:
I'm going to eat nothing but carrots until I can get my fretless ebonol J neck.

I have serious reservations about the viability of a neck made using the recipe for ice cubes...:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

random update thoughts: the poll seems to indicate that getting 24,000-25,000 TB members to favor this move by mighty mite may be more difficult than i previously assumed. and then there is the personal disappointment that only 22% of respondents favor me getting the first mighty mite ebonol j-style unlined fretless neck. on the plus side: and overwhelming majority of voters believe that it is a "great idea!"

my conclusion at this point: voter apathy among all peoples, everywhere, has influenced the potential outcome negatively, and inertia is now the biggest enemy of the movement to influence the decision making process of the mighty mite group.

it could also be the case that there are ebonol haters who are more likely to use their twitter feed as an opposition platform to discourage thread participation, but that's just a working theory: i have no proof one way or the other. the idea popped into my head, so it's at least possible that some people are taking that view. the whole system may be rigged. we'll see.

in the meantime: if any of you feel that yard signs could be helpful as a campaign device, please let me know. i think "getting out the vote" will be more important than who gets the first mighty mite ebonol j-style unlined fretless neck, but i'm not quite willing to concede that point (the first neck)...yet.

god bless everyone, everywhere (i would like to include guitarists, singers, and drummers even though i can't depend on their opinions about ebonol or unlined fretless necks) and keep up the good work!

    Simple solution.

Pre sell a couple thousand then take the money to Mightey Mite's "next meeting" and place an order for what you want. If they turn you down i'm sure someone else would accept the order.

Even better, ask them how much it would cost you to order a couple thousand, buy them, then sell them all but one.

Your dreams of a Mightey Mite unlined fretless neck are easily obtainable. All it takes is money.
