    Hey would i be a history killer if i refinish a 76 fender jazzbass???

    what other cons do this action has?

    Go for it! I don't get that worshipping of old Fenders. I mean they're nice basses and all, but that wouldn't affect tone/playability at all.

    well i forgot to say that it has a satin gloss finish and that i would refinish it in the same color.

    Its not anout if i want to or if i dont, is more about the resale price the collectibility of the bass and stuff like that

    It wouldn't be a sin, but it would seriously hurt your resale value. Like it or not, people are more willing to pay more money for a beat up original finish than a beautiful refin.

    Short version:
    Refinish it if you want it to look good for you.
    Don't refinish it if you want it to have the highest value to the person you sell it to.

    So - is it for you, or the eventual buyer?
