You were to name your band after a song by one of your favorite bands?

Im a big soilwork fan, and i have always thought it would be cool to have a band named "machinegun majesty". its one of their songs. I know of a couple bands that have done this... we dont have problems coming up with names, but this one would be really cool to use. totally lame or cool idea? and why?

Lots of bands have done this - 'Deacon Blue', 'Wet wet wet' springs to mind - I'll think of some others...eventually! ;)

  3. Godsmack got their name from an Alice in Chains song.

    ...so no, it's not cool.

machine head (from the deep purple song, i think..)
pretty girls make graves (from the smiths song)
and more that i can't think of right now.

machinegun majesty is a pretty cool name for a band. alliteration and all.

I would think you'd have people thinking you guys think you're tough **** just because of the "machinegun" in it.

actually, thinking about it again, there's already a band called machinegun symphony, and one called machinegun fellatio (i think).

i also know people in a band called yellow machinegun.

    too many machineguns :(

  7. cant forget "queens of the stone age"

but personally, i think its a rather lame idea...if i wanted to do my band would be named "pychoticbumpschool" or "mothership connection", or "a pyschoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop" for example :D

Well, you could always downgrade rounds per minute.

    Bolt-Action Majesty, or Semi-Automatic Majesty.

I like that. Also, Gia: there is a band called Machinegun Falsetto :)

  11. Let's not forget "Switchblade Symphony" for the latter half, for you Gothies.

I think 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' would be a good band name. Then again...I'm a big Mary Poppins fan.

    Be original.

  16. actually DP's record was called Machine Head...it was the one with smoke on the water on it...
i'm not sure if that is the reason, but it would be really cool if it was true!

i know the foo fighters went to some secret gigs as "the Stacked Actors" which is one of their own songs!

Not really, because they don't, they may have thought of it though.

Stiff Little Fingers and the Rolling Stones named themselves after songs. I've found that the coolest band names come from songs.
