  1. Titles says it all.

    If Jaco's career wasn't cut short would he have come to play a six-string bass?

    I'd say undoubtedly so. Through the mid to late 80's the six string bass became synonymous with Jazz Fusion. Jaco being a man of experimentation, one could only imagine what he may have done!

    Do you often wonder what dead people may have done had they not died when they did?

  9. Yes?

    If you would have deterred any information from my original post;
    1. You'd know he died before '90. So to answer your first question, in a way, yes! :D
    2. However, my question isn't necessarily pertaining to him post-mortem. More or less right beforehand. Therefore, your question is moot
    So my question is, do you spend you time stalking TB to waste people's time with inflammatory comments on their inflammatory OP's? If so, I have much more time to waste of your's than mine good sir! :hyper:

    Maybe. Maybe not.

    Lots and lots of jazz Bass players play 4 strings. And in the other musical genres too.

    I'm more interested in if he would have eventually switched to fiddle and started playing Blue Grass.

    I sometimes wonder what he would be doing in order to remain relevant in a world in which (due to his and his contemporaries' endeavors) electric bass guitar and virtuosity thereupon has become ubiquitous.

    What would he do? Keep playing. What are Chic Corea, Hancock, Miller, Metheny, and hundreds of others doing?

    Perhaps I should have phrased that as "I wonder what the music he would be making would sound like". :D

    Ah, ok!

    As a big big Jaco fan, I wonder that sometimes. I think that he would always be a jazz cat, but would play other styles of music. I picture him as a special guest in hip hop albums, rock, etc., etc.. But always returning to Jazz.
