i really don't care about impressing people.

 

I'm neither succesful, nor do I look succesful. Sure I could look nicer, but that takes away from my hobo mystique. Being succesful is where its at.

Plus get a bad enough smell and nobody tries to mug you. I wouldn't know that though...no personal experience speaking here

I think your results polling BP'ers will be highly skewed compared to polling a random sample of people.

I think anyone who takes on a role of being the 'rock
solid groove' guy is by definition not concerned about
the 'look' as much as the substance.

I could give a poop less what people think of how I look, I'm just doing my thing. I'd much rather be successful.

I think we can compare this to:

Would you rather be a Bass Player (successful and not look it)

or

Would you rather be a Guitar Player (look successful and not be it)

 

I'll take fortune; you can give fame to someone else.

I also believe that if one has a fortune, a large part of it should be spent on those in need.

Otherwise you might end up spending your fortune on doctors.

I don't really think you'll get many honest answers to this thread, mostly because people would rather not be seen as shallow. Not many people, when confronted with a question like this, will go the 'shallow route,' but that may change when people are really presented with the choice.

 

Easy... I'd rather be successful. I don't look successful anyway, so going this route at least gives me some worth, despite my appearance.

 

Seems like a moot point, since I can't imagine a situation where I would be forced to make the choice between inward success and outward appearance of success. I can probably choose whether or not to project my success, but if there's a way to simply choose success you'd think there wouldn't be as many homeless people and McDonald's workers in the world.

I'd rathe BE successful, because that way I can go by unnoticed by most people while still doing something I enjoy.


On the other hand, looking successful would probably get me all kinds of tail.

 

How many people do you know that blow ALL their money on fancy clothes, cars, dinners, jewelry, etc. People that live way beyond their means. These people are making that choice every day.

 

If you looked successful you might become successful.

Someone could spot you and make you into a male/female model.

You'd have to be hot though.

There's that saying "dress for success" So, maybe how successful you are starts with how you dress.

 

This poll speaks for itself. I woudl want to be succesful, butnot look it. But i wouldnt want to look UNSUCCESSFUL. I would like to have a modest appearence that isnt extreme to either pole.
