I'm thinking about selling my five string so that i can aqcuire a bass i've wanted since I started (I was influenced by nikki sixx quite a bit)

I would either sell or trade my Ibanez SR 405 ibanez

to supplement my gas for any of the epiphone thunderbirds. thunderbird

it would more than likely be for the limeted edition white or the goth, maybe the sunburst depending on what is in stock.

do you think a retailer would be willing to make this trade?

  2. They might, but they probably won't give you much for it. Not that its a bad bass. But thats the experience I've had with trading with dealers. Keep the Ibanez, save up for the T-Bird.

I would suggest you sit down and try the bass before you make the plunge. Alot of reviewers complain about the body shape (especially if you practice sitting down) as well as the neck dive. Regarding a trade I could not imagine any guitar retailer doing straight trade without you coughing up some cash. They will probably offer you much less than you could sell it for privately.

I would, yes, but I dunno what kinda deal a retailer would give you in trade, and I don't know what your preferences are, blah blah blah.

    Basically, what purfectstranger said.

k, thnx, I've played one at the same sop that I got my 405 at. then they sold it so I got the fiver. i'm just not really happy with my five string anymore, the b string doesn't sound like it used to , maybe it's because the strings are dead, i'll find out tommorrow, there may be some people interested in my bass at school. i may save up for it and use christmas money this time. i still don't know.

Definitely get new strings and make sure everything is set up how you want it before trading or selling it. You don't wanna get rid of it cause it's got dead strings...

  7. I would hang on to the ibanez and save up. I was really excited to get rid of my old bass to get an epi thunderbird, but when I actually played it I was very disappointed. So instead I saved up and tried out the gibson, which I like a lot. It's worth it if you know the bass is for you, but just be sure to try it out to see what you think.

My bird right now is very nice :bassist:

i love the epi' birds, I go into the shop in play them 2-4 times a month, I know what i'll be in for. but the ibanez was my main bass for almost a year and a half. i think i'll keep it and pray I can find the money somewhere. (hopefully money we get from renting out our studio)

thnx for the reply's wish me luck in finding the 350 i need
