Would you want someone who is overweight and ugly in your band?

  1. I'm just curious why asking, OP.

Can he/she play? Or is that not a factor in this calculation? :meh:

Change the shirt, and you have no issues.

I am asking because I just don't feel like I fit in with my band. Most bands you see have average weight, average looking people.

Here is a pic of me with my band although its not very clear. I just wonder if I even belong on a stage in front of anyone.

My first "real" band had a BL that was both. More chicks for me. As a bass player, take any advantage you can get. :)

dude... youre fine! nothing to worry about. If I was in your audience there is nothing that would make me say "what are they doing with THAT GUY as their bass player?".

I wouldn't care. I'm not interesting in playing in a boy band.

I am currently in a group that auditioned quite a few bass players.

I dress the same as these guys and I am what I would generally consider as a "good looking" guy (no Casanova, by any means). Every now and then I see some of the players that auditioned, I notice that they did not "fit the bill" so to say.

I don't necessarily "approve" of the idea of this, but, needless to say.. If you are trying to convey a certain image for your band then some profiling is in order.
  14. This.

But in the pic of you guys jamming in the basement, no problems whatsoever. You look just like a bass player, no problemo.

I would much rather play with an overweight person than some a-hole who would seriously care about it. I could stand to lose 50 myself, but I don't think it's coincidence that every band I sub for asks me to join up permanently. While I'm working on my weight, I worry more about my musicianship and stage presence, and let that do the talking.

The shirt was actually a joke when I took the pic, I break it out for rehearsals every once in a while. Actually that is not a basement it was a bar, or a hall attatched to a bar anyways.
  17. Google Juan Nelson, Nate Watts, Chris Chew, Travis Carlton...

Those boys ain't small and they've done just fine for themselves.
  18. Oh, cool moody space for a bar.
  19. If they're cool and can play... Yup.
