Wouldn't it be cool if .........?

    Conflicts like the one going on in the Middle East could be settled by cutting heads?

    Cutting Heads = slang term that refers to a one on one competition between two musicians on their instruments of choice with the winner or person who performs the best prevailing.

    There seems to have been some confusion about what I meant by the term " cutting heads. " I apologize to anyone who misunderstood my intentions.

    What's so asinine about the thread and why should it be closed? Music does have the power to heal. Don't you think that it would be better to have performances rather than conflicts? Just a thought.

    I meant decapitation in the musical sense. :) I personally don't think that the use of violence does anything but generate more violence.

    Instead of wars we could have concerts.

    Ok, then I apologize for my rant.
    But using slang like that in this situation is asking for misunderstandings.

    And I think this belongs in OT

    No need to apologize JMX. I should have been more aware that this forum is visited by a large variety of individuals from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and thus chosen my words more carefully. By the way, I spent quite a bit of time in the Cologne area. I'm an ex - US Air Force person who was stationed at Bitburg AFB in the city of Bitburg of course.

    Thanks for your email.

    I apologise for my misunderstanding - I didn't realise "cutting heads" was just another term for "dueling instruments".

    You do realise you should have explained the term better in your original post - it sounded like you were advocating decapitation as a solution to the current conflict.

    That was my mistake. I went back an edited all of my posts. If you read the original now you'll see that I tried to define what I meant. I hope that everyone understands now and that they have told the police that they aren't needed! Sorry about the mix up. :)

    That's a good question melvin. I really hadn't thought of that angle. With the current leadership I'm sure that it would probably be someone that I'm not interested in. I'm not bashing the current leadership but I just don't see what appears to be music lovers among them. Now if Clinton were still in office it would definitely be a party man! He would probably have to go through years of legal proceedings afterwards but it would be a party that you would not want to miss! Bill Clinton blowing the sax on the Arsenio Hall Show--->:cool:
