I just noticed that my Stingray's neck has zero (0) fret relief, and the bass is still playable more or less without any fret buzz. I'll guess that this shows how well my bass is made.

Im pretty sure it has some relief, you just cant see it.

But yes, my sterling also plays marvelously with little relief.

    I love these basses.

Although i did have 0 relief at one time, and i could still play with no audible buzz through the amp, only a little on frets 1-5 when digging in which is probably what you have. I had hella low action too, still do.

I used to keep my SR's action so low with no buzz. I swear it was flat and I actually blew on the strings to get a note a few times (just to show how low the action was) but you had to play with a light attack. This was an EXCELLENT tapping setup.
