Very cool! I'd totally play one of those.

It's become the go-to bass in my band. The switching system is interesting; 1-3 are the three pu's (off/on) and the bottom (4th) switch by-passes the V/T pots direct to the jack. So whichever combination of pu you select gets a clean boost. Very useful if you need a boost in the middle of a song - just a flip of the switch. And all switches off is like a 'kill-switch'. That and the J-like neck has a soft V profile in 1st position. First time I've encountered one and I really like it. Any I've seen for sale are in Japan - like I said it was distributed to the Japanese market only when new. The only ones I've seen for sale are the Grass Roots version.

The back is very "Fodera-ish"
Designwise,they're taking a turn in a good direction.

Always enjoy the ESP exhibition models, guitars and bass', also it's a nice way for ESP to let their builders be creative and learn new things.
One of the guitars they did this year, is almost exactly what I want, if I could figure out how to order a ESP MIJ custom build.

Sometimes, things are just too pretty to play...at least for me it works that way. It's also too fancy for most people, hell I felt that way about many PRS guitars when I first started seeing them many years ago.

And once again, for the sake of the thread, I'll reiterate once again that it's part of ESP's annual exhibition series where their top luthiers at their Tokyo custom shop can just go hog wild and let their creative monkeys run free.

Basically, they're a flex to show the kind of over-the-top craftsmanship they can do.

Gaudy? Sure, but if you are allowed to show off what you can do then you gotta do it up big! Show 'em all your tricks. Everything including the kitchen sink.

The ESP custom shop is one of the finest luthiery establishments in the world. They will 100% make you the instrument of your dreams.

IMHO....the front is "artwork" but not something I'd want in a guitar/bass HOWEVER the back is absolutely beautiful to me for a guitar/bass. I guess I'm a wood guy.
