I don't know how Schecter basses play/feel, but I really like the looks of this bass. I'd like to try one out. It was especially attractive when I thought that first number was a '3'. :D

  2. i'd like to try out the rob deleo signature model.

fun fact - matt sharp's trusty black frankenjazz has schecter pickups. sounds good enough to me!

I think Schecter has its pickups made by Rio Grande pickups. Not sure they make 'em in house...

i had a robert deleo bass, i bought it from musician's friend and it played pretty well but it had a few chips in the paint and douple holes for the pickguard which is just sloppy workmanship.
when you see little things like that in the beginning bigger things are sure to pop up sonner or later so i returned it. if i oculd get one used for ha;f the price tho....

That is one sweet looking bass. Does it come in a five string version? True, I could go to the website but this way someone may do the work for me.

  8. They could still be made by Rio Grande, to Schecter's exact specifications, and thus labelled as "Schecter pickups", right?

My Stiletto Studio 4 (not the one pictured above) came with EMG Hz pups as well. It also has a 3band active EQ.

I played a Schecter at Guitar Center a couple weeks ago and they are pretty nice. I like the design of them too.

Oh, and most Schecters have EMG H-Z's in them, most of them that I have seen that is.

Some newer schecters seem nice for the money, but I don't dig that modern, scooped sound that most of those basses have.

Guitar Center is no fun when you have a Sadowsky.

I know most Schecters have EMG HZs, but if you havent already noticed, the HZs are nothing compared to the real EMGs.

In case you didn't know the HZ's are passsive (Im almost positive.) THe batery is only for the external preamp.

The preamps are also nothing compared to EMG preamps. Im pretty sure that the Schecter models equiped with EMG HZ dont have EMG preamps.

    Peace

How would you know that it isn't an EMG EQ?

Is there a way to visually ID who makes the EQ if I take off the cover to the preamp cavity?

Does the fact that it is an 18 volt system help ID the pre?

Can anyone help here? I'd really like to know.

I think I read it on the Schecter website, but you could probably just call them and find out.

As always, I could be wrong.

I have an old Electra with an 18 volt preamp, and an Ibanez with an 18 volt preamp. So 18 volts is no guarantee that it is EMG or Bartolini.

    From the website:

    "ELECTRONICS:
    EMG Hz w/ Active 3-Band EQ "

I assumed that meant both the pups and the electronics were EMG. But you know what they say when you "ass"ume.

The Studio 4 still sounds good to me, so I'm not too worried about it.
