An MTD with maple covered Nordstrand Dual Coils!!!! Probably the nicest MTD I have ever seen. It's at the Groove Shoppe. It has two too many strings for me, so GAS isn't an issue!
WOW!!!!! that is the only MTD that i have really thought would suit what i want tone wise, i bet that thing kills!!!! Dave
That top wood is great. Lots of details, good colors, sort of tells a story just sitting there. I've gotten away (well, sort of) from exotic-looking woods on my basses, mainly because here in the head-up-your-...well, er, "midwest". A lot of people here spend time and attention deciding on whether someone else is trying to "show off" (seen as a bad thing) by the instrument they play. Ironically, many of the same pinheads, er...folks lust after artificially reliced Fenders because they believe it makes for more "mojo". Too bad, I'll bet a lot of them would like really cool looking woods for their axes if they weren't so afraid of what they'd think about each other (Personally, I think a lot of them would gravitate toward open-toed slingbacks if you really let 'em loose.).
I know exactly what you are saying. I have a Warrior Signature Custom 4 that DOESN'T have a fancy top on it. And I got it new. It really wouldn't have cost any more to get a nice top, but I went for straight up tone over aesthetics. That said, that MTD is sick!!!!
This is by far the nicest mac ebony top on an F Bass. The curves of the two different colors match the F Bass shape darn fine!
Yeah... if they only made the block inlays wider in the F-Basses, that would be sweet... but then again maybe they did not want to go with a 70's Jazz Bass look, but I personaly think that would look alot better IMO. Peace,
I'm not an MTD fan in general, but one with Nordstrand pickups might be right up my alley! Luckily, I'm not a six string player and I don't love the top on this one. Bet it sounds great though. Marshall
