    Anyone got a spare Demeter on-board pre-amp that will fit in a Roscoe (4-hole layout)?

    I'm itching to buy, and I'll probably end up just ordering one from Demeter if I don't hear anthing by the middle of next week...

    I know this will work with Roscoes...

    LOL. My PRS rep lives and dies by that preamp. He's got 3 of them... just in case! :)

  4. I had the HBP-1 for YEARS, killer preamp. I really like the on-board Demeter pre too, very clean and quiet. I just like the added "oomph" from the Bart on my fretless, and the added SNARL with the OBP-3 for my fretted. :)

    I sold my backup Demeter several months ago but I definitely say go for it Greg.
    As much as I like the sound of the Bart/Bart in my 3006 I've still been tempted to purchase a Demeter preamp to drop in mine .... just to see what it would sound like!

    My suggestion if to just order the standard 5 knob Demeter and the concentric 50K w/center detente from Potentiometers - Pots | Jacks | Switches | Shielding
    and swap out the bass & treble pots yourself.

    You'll get it a lot faster! ;)

    Ah, great advice, Joe! Thanks for that.

    I'm actually thinking about trying to stick with the pots from my Audere so that I can continue to use my lovely wood knobs. If I do that, I'll have a spare knob (since I'm going from 4-band to 3-band). I'd also like to try to make that spare knob into a passive tone control, like Mike Lull does all the time. So I'd stack the PTC on top of the mids, and then I'd stack treble on top of bass...

    Will it be possible to get a stack pot that one half will work as a tone like that?

    I'm not sure... I guess the bottom half would be detented, and the upper half would not be... do they make such a pot? Bah, I hate buying pots...

    I was thinking that the mids portion would have to be 50k, and the tone portion like 250-500k.

    I suppose anything's possible, but it may have to be custom, and expensive. I'm fairly sure MEC do stuff like this.

    Ah, no worries on the ohms. I'm an electrical engineer, and I can change C just as easily as I can change R! :)

    A typical tone circuit goes like 1/RC. If R gets smaller, then C gets bigger to achieve the same cutoff frequency... at least I THINK it's that simple.

    If R and C are together, add a Moon Pie for best snacktime variation.;)

    R = Resistance (ohms)
    C = Capacitance (farads)

    Analyze a few circuits, and then you'll be ready for year 2 of electrical engineering study. :)

    I think I've decided to give my Mike Pope a try again first. That preamp hasn't seen duty since I was playing my Warwick Thumb NT, and that bass was just a bad fit for that preamp. I'm thinking King Koa might give it a much better showing...

    After that (if there is an after that), then I'll have to decide if I want to go Bart or Demeter...

    So many preamps, so little time...

    Yes they do. My old Mike Lull M5V was set up like that.

    Well, I found my Mike Pope pre... it's currently wired for 3 holes, and it's not exactly trivial to break apart one of the stacked pots into two unstacked pots (there's a PCB involved that I'm reluctant to put a lot of heat on). That's a project for another day...

    So I've decided to give the Bart NTMB another shot, we'll see how it works with my Nordy J's. I suspect if I don't dig it in my fretted, I might just love it in my fretless with the Nordy DC's...

    I'm thinking that you really dig the Bart this time around Greg.
    I fell in, out and then back in love with Bart over the last year.

    I guess that the saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fond" is true.

    Of course now you've got me GAS'ing for a Demeter too! :rollno:

    What's the current control config of the Pope pre?
