You were in Georgia too long...
Its got volume/blend stacked, mid level, then bass/treble stacked.
It's a custom pre that I had him make for my old Warwick Thumb. I just forgot those are 3-hole basses...
Just wondering would it be worth leaving one empty hole just to check out the tone, or is it possible to add in a passive tone in the fourth hole?
Yeah, I could certainly do that, I like the PTC idea in the fourth hole... I might have to try that if the NTMB doesn't take!
It just so happens I have a LG2005 that only utilizes 3 holes as it has a passive tone control with the active EMG pickups. I would be happy to try out your Mike Pope preamp... just sayin.
Be prepared for sticker shock, I think it was around $400 new. But I'll keep this in mind!
Me thinks me just shat me drawls.
I couldn't stand it anymore ........
I ordered a Demeter preamp to try in the Roscoe.
Heh, just couldn't help it?
You know it Bill! It was just going to happen sooner or later.........
Oh - please do let us know your thoughts once you've made the change, Joe!
Ah, you guys! Now I am thinking about preamps
I'm half considering swapping the NTMB that will come in my Century Std with the Audere in my SKB when it arrives. I like what the Audere does, but it's almost too clean for the already clean sound that bass has.
Joe, I know you tried both the Audere and Demeter and like the latter a lot more. What pickup/preamp combos do you have in your basses currently?
Ive had the Audere in 3 Roscoes and it only sounded good in one of those (it had a solid maple body and the Nord DC P/Us).
I ordered a Spanish cedar/burl maple Roscoe 3005 with the Audere and it was just a bit too polite sounding for me. Actually quite bland or maybe sterile sounding. I replaced it with the Roscoe Demeter and it sounded so much better (that bass also had the Bart CB P/Us).
My current Roscoe 3006 has the Roscoe Bart P/Us and Bart 3-band and I actually really like the sound but it does lack the glassy highs and smooth mids that the Demeter provides.
Ill definitely provide some feedback after I get the Demeter installed (and come A/B sound clips).
Joe, we understand it is not you, it is the disease. You can't control it anymore than Michael J. Fox can control his Parkinson's. Just so sad.
