wwhats a dead spot

  1. what are deadspots? i keep hearing about them. i play bass so im not completely stupid i have jsut never noticed anything on my bass that could be a "dead spot" maybe im just oblivious..

    it's an antinode on the neck of your bass

    that's all i really know, i just remember that from conceptual physics class. if i had to guess i'd say they're around the 3rd and/or 15th fret

    Around the 3rd(or 5th?), it will sound more "dead" than other notes, like no sustain, a thump. if you will.
     
  6. It is a place on the neck where the note just goes (PLUNK) instead of sustaining. Has something to do with resonance or something like that. (i think)
