I was just checking out Megadeth's website, as they are coming to my town in November. I am not a huge 'Deth fan (anymore -- I miss Marty and Nick and "Risk" sucked), but as I said, they're comin' around, so I thought I'd do some research. Anyway, their site is cool in that they have included a personal profile of each band member and a list of the gear each of 'em uses! I wish more bands would be more free with their gear info. What do they think, we're gonna "steal" their gear and consequently their sound and fool people into thinking we are them?
A big reason that many bands don't post their gear lists is endorsements--if you endorse Brand X, but you use Brand Y exclusively in the studio, X is going to be very angry with you.
So, if someone uses Brand X live and Brand Y in the studio, why would Brand X care, as long as the band is being seen with Brand X live? And if they use Brand X live and Brand Y in the studio, aren't they being sponsored by both X and Y? If they took on Brand X, wouldn't they dump Brand Y?
What the X?? Has anyone noticed how bad most band websites really are? They all look good but have no information. It would be good to see a band web page that had lots of info on gear, progress of upcoming album, lyrics and transcriptions to songs etc. Jim
I saw them last night, they played 90% pre- Rust in Piece stuff, I was happy with it. I really used to like them when I was in high school, but lost interest after R.I.P., anyway, it was a good show. I talked to them briefly, nice guys. Mustaine is hilarious when dealing with drunk people! He has a great sense of humor and is a master with well timed sarcasm.
