"Wynona's Big Brown Beaver" Claypool Effect????

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by deathbloomslife, Dec 15, 2005.

  1. I've never posted in the effects forum before, never been too much of an effects man with my playing. However, the same ol' tones are killing me, and I'm looking to start off an effects collection. The main one I'm after (right behind some sort of starters multi-effect) is the one Les Claypool uses in the Priums recording "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver." I know the bulk of the tone is NOT from one of his CT Basses, beacause that song calls for a Fender USA Jazz bass.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

I can't really tell much of a difference between basses when Les plays them. I don't know exactly what he uses, but I would guess his tone is from a slight overdrive patch on his old ADA MP-1 preamp, a splash of reverb, and some heavy compression, probably from an Alesis MicroCompressor, which he loves.
