ERNIE BALL OWNERS ONLY!!!!!!! (haha just kidding) so i went to my "local" guitar center saterday night to return my sub01 stingray but honestly, i hated it. i didnt like the sound, the feel, anything about it. so i went to return and i kinda felt bad cus the manager was really cool. i told him i would bring the bass inside in a few minutes after looking around. thats when i noticed all of the ernie balls (most anyway) were 15% off. one of the reasons i bought the sub was because i didnt have the money for a real ernie ball. so with the price tag reading about 1100 (brand new) and with the 15% off and a little hangling, i walk away with this monster for a mere 800 bucks (hardshell included) i've had my ric for about a year, i didnt get two basses haha. together. That picguard HAS to come off though. i think i'm going to put a black one on it, i was thinking tort but i'm pretty sure i'm going with black. i'm not a fan of the "oil" looking one.
They still made a ton off the sale. I hate GC but they always carry the gear that people want or need. Makes things tough when they are the only place who has the stuff we "need" (or always wanted hehe). They have a price matching thing that they do where they beat the prices out of anyone. Even online companies. They never follow up on the research. Say I go, Stingrays are $600 at someguitarstore.com." They go ok... No need to print things out. nothing. I did that for my streamer stage II with basscentral.com. They gave me the price of what the website sells "in store demos" of the basses. It is worth it to do research for the bass of your dreams when dealing with GC.
I love that pickguard. Make sure you sell it to someone, cause i know somebody would love to have that pg.
Nice bass. It really looks good against those sweet hardwood floors too. What about white pearloid for the pickguard?
I empathize with you that your pickguard lacks aesthetic value... on its own. I think that though it looks funky, it goes with the bass. Keep it! Black is too cliche.
