You can use the BB as a clean preamp for a passive bass to add an active preamp or just to add another sound palette to any bass you choose. Start turning the gain knob and let the growl begin! From subtle SVT growl to full-on distortion, this pedal delivers and the best part is that the fundamental tone of the bass is unaltered by the pedal.

The amount of Gain you choose to use does not overwhelm the inherent sound of *your* playing style and *your* Bass and other gear. A Jazz Bass will continue to sound like a Jazz Bass, a Precision will sound like a Precision, StingRay, Ibanez, etc... Adding the 2-band EQ section into the equation will continue to give you more options: for example, if you're using a "60's"-type Jazz Bass (Alder Body, Rosewood Fretboard) you may very well want to add some additional treble EQ to sound closer to the stereotypically brighter "70's J-Bass" (Ash Body, Maple Fretboard)... or not, if you simply want to add overdrive/distortion.

As its name implies, the Xotic Bass BB Preamp has enough output to drive a Power Amplifiler or a Mixing Board on its own. This "Emergency Function" alone is worth its weight in gold if you don't have an alternative method of amplification should catastrophic failure occur. And you wouldn't even need to play the show using a distorted tone if your usual is a clean one - by simply not increasing the Gain, you still have a perfectly good 2-band Preamp at your foot/fingertips.

Step up your bass game and tone - stand out from the crowd! $105 shipped in North America. PayPal only, unless you're in Canada.
