Yes, I've seen that article and video. They sure look a lot better than the laklands in my opinion.

I have a DJ5 that love, and I admit the Xotic bass looks much more boutique.

I just learned some months ago that Travis Carlton is Larry Carlton’s son. That makes him Jazz Funk/Session Musician royalty!

By the way, that import Xotic sounds great!

Yeah I saw this in the new BP as well. When I saw the price, I was thankful they're making a mid-priced instrument that more people can afford.

I agree with you 100%. My only concern is that the string spacing looks tight.

  7. Where can I get one?

Xotic doesn't seem to have these stocked anywhere. Bad timing since they just received a really glowing review in this month's Bass Player.

Hopefully, Xotic will get them out there while there is a buzz. Their price is right. Personally, do not ever see me going over $1,400 for an instrument again.

Any idea on deeper specs? I would be curious to know if surf green will be a color option.

$1,390 according to the article in Bass Player.

  15. I still can’t find them. The website says that the sunburst is instock but I can’t figure out how to order.

I Xotic figures this out. They can’t make money with non-existent product.

Damn, just what I need. G.A.S.! Not a fan of the wood pickup covers though.

  18. I emailed yesterday. They are expecting stock in April. He said they will be listed on Reverb. The 5-strings will be $1450. That’s a great price for what you are getting:

    • Hipshot Hardware
    • Xotic preamp and pickups
    • None nut

Dr. Cheese and mark beem like this.

If you follow the buy now link from the Xotic web page it takes you to a store page at Reverb.com that has 20% off of Basses. There is nothing in the store at the moment but it will be interesting to see if that 20% remains once these go live.

  20. They’ll probably remove that.
