I totally thought I did some, but I guess not. I appologize in advance for any bubbly noise and the extreme sound when combined with the P&C. I've tried to minimize the noise by recording thru the line in (works, but less volume "room" which is why I got the USB interface in the 1st place). As for the P&C->XXLB clip. You might like it, you might not. I just think its interesting what the warp knobs affect is on the P&Cs sound. The Warp knob is essentially "flat" at 11 oclock where the 2 arrows are. Anyways..... THE CLIPZ: XXL Bass - Drive max Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass - Drive min Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass - Drive noon Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass - Drive min Warp var Tone max XXL Bass - Drive min Warp var Tone max wPnC "Tone var" = Tone @ min, noon, then max "Warp var" = Warp @ min, 11oclock ("flat"), 1oclock, then max The Prunes and Custard was set: Bass mode, LoFreq off, Mix and Drive @ 1oclock Enjoy EDIT: Oh ya, the bass is an SX Jazz 5 tuned ADADG strung with cromes. Both pups on full, tone off (so if you're wondering on the lack of highs, there's the explenation) I discovered, and keep discovering that I prefer my high end to come from a distortion or fuzz rather than the bass it self. Plus IMHO/E, those get pushed just a little harder in better freqs.
Awesome clips of an awesome pedal. I have more pressing needs than a distortion pedal right now and you're not helping.
It has a fairly dark, chunky sound to it. I don't mind it. In your clips (first one for example), it sounds like you are playing wet, then clean, then varying levels of wet, is that correct? Are you using the P&C at the start of the clips?
Any chance we could get a couple of clips with the tone knob turned up please? I'm quite interested in this pedal but I'd like to get more of an idea of what it would sound like if I was playing my bass through it. I heard some clips of this before and I liked them much better than these ones. I'm thinking that maybe its because the bass has so much of the highs rolled off.
these are really nice clips, Dan. thanks a bunch. Also thanks for being so bold as to roll the drive back
The 1st 3 "Tone var" ones are clean (XXL off)->XXL on, tone min->tone noon->tone max. I play a riff on the lower A and D strings and then the same on the higher A and Ds. The "Warp var" clip w/o the P&C is just the XXL. I mentioned in the XXL love thread that I could get interesting sounds by running the P&C->XXL with different warp settings, so thats why I did that clip. I could, but I honestly don't know how much highs would be added. The flats on that bass have been on there in a while, so Im pretty sure most of the high end ZING is gone anyways. Hehe, thanks
Thanks I did a little test of how much the tone knob makes a difference. It adds a little bit of hi mids (or lets the hi mids of the bass thru), but since the flats are not new, still no treble. The XXL definitely acts different tho, so I will definitely try to do clips tomorrow when Im off.
Clips with the tone on my bass NOT choked off: XXL Bass-Bass Tone On - Drive noon Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass-Bass Tone On - Drive max Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass-Bass Tone On - Drive min Warp 11oclock Tone var XXL Bass-Bass Tone On - Drive min Warp var Tone max The first bit of the "Tone var" clips are tone choked->tone not choked, first on the low A/D then on the high A/D strings, then the XXL itself.
