I am trying to make up for lost time so I have acquired a lot of instruments lately. Here's the latest: Gretsch 5442TDC.

It's gorgeous, plays like a dream, and has very high build quality. A *bit* limited on tonal versatility, but a joy to play and def fun for a country/roots/blues kind of thing. I was not sure about the Gretsch control setup (Master Vol on lower horn, Master tone on lower bout, two volumes, and a three way pickup toggle, but it makes a ton of sense. This is a terrific bass and I recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit off the beaten path.

It's pretty much a true hollowbody-has center bracing but not quite a sustain block. Floating bridge is no problem. In fact, I was able to adjust intonation just by grasping the bridge and carefully pivoting it a bit. No movement under normal use.

All in all, it's a winner. Much :bassist:
