Yamaha BBN5II

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Marty Forrer, Aug 28, 2001.

  1. I was looking around for a replacement for my L2500, as I just cannot find a sound in it that I really like. I found a new Yammy BBN5II that's light (alder body) and balances perfectly (just right for my bad back). The cruncher was a 3/4" (19mm) string spacing. It's really hard to find a 5 string with this spacing, and on close inspection, I discovered it's really well made. Taiwanese, and heaps better than the Korean basses available. It's a passive bass, but the pickups sounded great, so I took it home and installed a Bartolini NTBT preamp, a Switchcraft jack socket, some copper adhesive foil, and threaded brass inserts for the cavity cover screws. Wow! It blows the L2500, and is much lighter, and all up less than half the cost. I am happy.
