Yamaha bbt 500 matching cabs not loud

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by semborg, Jul 27, 2005.

  1. So today I played with a guitarrist and a drummer.
    (Guitarrist using a 1x12 75watts combo)

I am using Yamaha bbt 500h with it's matching 2x10 cab.

Even If I push my amp so hard I can, both my drummer and guitarrist is telling my to raise my volume.

Is it like this with every 2x10 rig? or just mine? :rollno:

Will an addition of a 2x10 more solve the problem?

    Thank you
  2. The addition of another matching 2x10 cab will give you a pretty good boost in volume. Not only will you be doubling cone area but you will also be doubling wattage (The BBT 500 is 250w @4ohms and 500w @2ohms).

It is not surprising to me that a 2x10 driven with 250watts isn't enough. I think 4x10 inch drivers @500 watts of power is usually enough for any situation. That of course depends on your gig situation and speaker cabinet sensitivity.

Keep in mind that your next 4 ohm cab will be the last one you can use with your current setup. Ifit isn't enough you're stuck. I would consider a 4 ohm 4x10 cab. That would maximize the volume of your rig and give you a lot of flexibility. You would be able to run 2x10, 4x10, or 6x10.
