Yamaha BX-1

  1. Does anyone here have one or have any experience playing this bass?
    I like the look and since there is a little more to the body I would think it is more comfortable to play than a Steinberger.

    Yeah these things balance ok compared to a Steinberger I had one back in the late 80's cool lil bass....Wouldnt mind having another one.

    I've had one since new in the 80's. I used to play it alot back then- very cool and reliable with a versatile tone. It takes a little getting used to when you're normally playing full size and heavier basses as this little spike is light and flops around a bit.

    It's built in Japan and of very good quality construction. The finish isn't the best and I've heard of people having paint problems around the jack area, but mine is fine with no chips, just normal wear.

    I see no reason that one in good condition couldn't be a regular player and will get you lots of comments and interest.

    Yep the problem around the jack area is common not paint problems but actually split in the wood I think....I am pretty sure Kerryg's old bx-1 did that..
