Vintage Yamaha PB-1. The legendary bass preamp that you've probably already heard of -- if not, do a TB search! This one has seen a lot of use, but has never failed me and sounds fantastic. Cosmetically, a good amount of scuffs, dings, and a little oxidation. Also, the right rack ear is slightly bent backwards, but mounts in a rack case without issue. Functionally, everything works just fine, unless you plan to run a bi-amp setup, in which case the crossover control pots will need some cleaning. Both myself and the previous (original) owner, always just ran it as a normal/mono amp. Therefore the pots have built up some gunk, are scratchy and don't pan smoothly. Again this has absolutely no affect on the preamp if you are running it with the normal/mono output. Lastly, I do not have a footswitch so there was no way for me to test the footswitch input jack. All that said, the price reflects the cosmetic imperfections and bi-amping scratchiness. These normally go for a good amount more. $140 + approximate shipping to your location. CONUS shipping only and PayPal is preferred. ADDED BONUS: I have an extra full-size, hard plastic 2-space rack case (no lids for front or back) that I'd be happy to include for free in this sale. Love mine also but mostly use it as a great headphone amp, and sometimes I use just the X-over section, or use it to record without a amp. These really are nice!
For all the pre does, it might not be a bad idea to keep it! It's great for late night playing with headphones!
I’ve owned five or six of these over the years. Absolutely the best solid state bass preamp ever made, and this is a great price on it. If I didn’t own one already I would buy this. GLWTS!
Update: I have an extra full-size, hard plastic 2-space rack case (no lids for front or back) that I'd be happy to include for free in this sale.
I used to use one of these at my beach gigs and heavy touring on the East Coast. It’s pretty much bulletproof it still works to this day. I think I got it in the 80s. That’s a great price I bet it goes this weekend.
Great preamp, great X-over, great headphone amp! You can't buy mine so you might as well buy this one!!
Yeah, the used market is not exactly booming at the moment. No big deal though, price is firm and I'm patient
Wise decision to keep such a great preamp - way underpriced too I thought . This pre has a very quick response and a decent amount of adjustment with a foot switch which can be semi generic and still work fine . Love mine ..... Kelly
