Yamaha RBX 270 vs. Ibanez GSR 200

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Penguin, Jan 31, 2002.

  1. Hi

I am thinking about either getting a Yamaha RBX 270 or an Ibanez GSR 200. I would like to know the difference between these to instruments. I like to play a variety of music, from heavy metal to slow rock, so i would like a versatile instrument.

    Thanks

  2. I'd go for the RBX.. for serveral reasons

    - String retainer ( = better string tension = more sustain )
    - Solid Alder Body.
    - Rosewood Fingerboard.
    - Lifetime Warranty (!!!!)

Plus i know how the RBX sounds and how the GSR sounds... RBX all the way !

  3. What about the pick ups? is there much difference between the two? Thanks

  4. Dunno..

the GSR has exposed polepieces.. which sucks imho..

  5. i also would opt for the RBX, since i have one, and although its not my main bass anymore, i still use it often, good solid bass, good meaty sound and it looks a bit different which is cool. This is and always will be my recomendation for a starter/ cheap bass!

    *Si*

  6. Get the Yamaha, I have the RBX260F, which is the same as the 270 except that it doesn't have the bridge pickup and it's fretless. I've played the fretted version too, it's a good bass.

  7. ofcourse it's good.. it's Yamaha.. Doh ! :D
