what about this for a beginner fretless player?

i'd love to start to play and study fretless too.

is this the only yamaha fretless bass produced nowadays?

i would like a cheap decent sounding bass with lined fretboard.

    thanks.

I’d say this is about where the decent fretless basses start.

  3. I bought a green one about a year ago as my first fretless. As usual the Yamaha construction is really good for the bucks. The pups are quite good, too, and the finish is really nice.

Changed the strings right away for TI Jazz Flats. (Suggest you consider them, too).

Yep. All in all, a really nice first fretless.

Just moved to a 5 fretted (again a Yamaha) so might sell the RBX. Can't seem to get on with a 4 now I'm geting into 5.

  4. PS.

Yamaha BBN4 fretless are still around, and they do the TRB5II. They're about UK£850.

I'd suggest the Jazz Rounds for fretless.

    Cheaper, yes; better, NIMO.
