I've just bought a 1970 Yamaha SA70 online but was unable to ask any questions about it. Can anyone tell me the scale of the instrument: bridge saddles to nut? I'd also like to know the measurement from the ball end of the string to the middle of the E tuning post...inches will be fine. Just want this so I can make the correct decision when buying new flat wound strings.
  2. Uses short scale strings . Scale length 30". A friend has one. Nice bass.

The SA70 may be a 30'' scale bass but can't possibly use short scale strings. There is a reasonable distance between the tail piece (where the ball end of the strings sit) and the bridge. Some measurements would really be helpful.
  5. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. My friend moved out of state 5 years ago and we've lost touch . I hesitate to say medium scale length strings ?
