YAMAHA TRB-6P 6-STRING BASS

    This bass is from around the same era that John Patitucci came to notoriety... He along with Nathan East, Lee Sklar, Oscar Cartaya, and the like all endorsed this particular model for a long time.

    This is the neck-through early 90's bass that included dual truss rods and piezos imbedded into the bridge saddles. Two dead quiet (humbucking?) single-coil pickups, WIDE Ebony fingerboard, maple/walnut 5-piece neck, maple/walnut 3-piece body. Controls are: Master volume, magnetic pickup pan-pot, treble cut/boost, bass cut/boost, piezo/magnetic pickup blend, and a treble cut for the piezos. Translucent red sunburst

    The bass is in great shape for it's age and wasn't played extensively or "hard". It has that certain defined sweetness that only this model presented. Heralded as one of Yamaha's greatest made basses from an era when they really hit their stride and were producing some of the best made instruments at that particular time.

    A TRB6P has been my main bass since I bought it in the early 90's. The original pups leave a lot to be desired. I put in Bartolini's which made a huge difference and use Fodera strings...this combination for my ear is a perfect fit. These really are pretty special basses. Loads of fun to play.
