I'm thinking about installing a pickup cover over my neck humbucker on my G&L Tribute L2000. Already bought the cover from Amazon for 10 bucks. Mocking it up it looks like low E string almost touches the cover, before I even install. I figured I can remedy this by adding a little rubber underneath the ears when (if) I fasten it to the bass. Just looking for feedback from anyone who has one on their bass, whether or not they like it or not. Also from anyone who installed one themselves. Thanks!

I usually play right over the front edge of pickups, so that wouldn't work for me. But if it aids your technique, go for it!

I usually rest my thumb on the neck humbucker but I find if I dig in a little too much I get some nasty scratching sounds from the strings touching the pole pots. I figured putting the cover on will give me a place to rest my thumb, FORCE me to play back in between the pickups, plus it looks cool. Thanks for the feedback!

If a customer asked me to install that, I'd **roll** it over dowel while squeezing the ears inward; until I got the necessary string clearance.

Rubber may stain or cloud the guitar finish.

Use some 3M Command strips to test your install for a month, before you drill any holes!!!

  6. Hello.

I like the classic look of the L2000, without a cover. But hey, that's me! What's important is what you think.

I love my L2000. I've never played a bass at that price point with the flexibility that it has
