YBA-3 Mod

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bassboysam, Mar 14, 2006.

  1. Just got my YBA-3 back from the shop, I had it modified for 7027/6l6 power tubes. Wow, what a diffrence from the EL34s, much bigger sounding, more low end and a better defined mid range. Also the expander knobs make a much bigger difference than before, especially the treble epxpander. If you want to try something new with your vintage traynors I would recommend this mod, its completely reversible too. Oh and I'm using the JJ 7027 tube. The amp is much cleaner sounding too, very difficult to get it to overdrive the power section

awesome! what cab do you run with your YBA-3?

  3. I play it through the Acoustic 106 2x15 cab, I did not really like this amp with the ampeg 610, but I will give it a try with these new tubes see if it sounds any better. When I went to pick up the amp I tried it with and ampeg 810 and that sounded really good too. Lots of growl, and nice punch too.
