  1. WSM-AM To Remain Country
-- Gaylord Entertainment has reached a decision about the format of WSM Radio.
It will remain country and the flagship station for the Grand Ole Opry.
As widely reported, the company had tossed around the idea of changing the station's country format to sports talk radio.
Gaylord Entertainment President and CEO Colin Reed made the announcement Monday at the Ryman Auditorium that WSM would stay with the country format.
Opry members Vince Gill, Marty Stuart and Bill Anderson joined Reed for the announcement. The stars, along with thousands of country music fans worldwide, were against the change, and Reed said he had been inundated with telephone calls and e-mails about the prospective changes.
The news was greeted by cheers and applause from the audience -- which included several Opry members.

All i can say is WHEW and thanks Gaylord. The best part of the news coference was when Colin Reed looked over at staunch traditionalist Marty Stuart and said "You can put your guns away now Mr. Stuart". lol Thanks to everyone here who signed the petition. Sometimes public opinion CAN make a difference! Trent

    Great news!

What remains sad about this is that it took a public outcry to bring someone to their senses on this. It'd be a better thing if tradition and history were respected and preserved without all the fuss, by default.
