Okay, I'm catching some flack from local bassists for having a mirror pickguard on my P-bass. I'm not really a flashy kinda guy, but I think it's rather cool. Take a look at the pic and give me your feedback.

  3. Between you and Nino, I wanna get a black J bass and put a mirrored guard on it. I'll make some mirrored P/U covers too :D

    I love it.
  4. I think that rocks!
  5. if YOU like it, keep it. it would look nice w/ a tortoiseshell guard, but the mirrored is nice too. screw those other dudes.
but if you're gettin' rid of it anyway, definitely burn it. burning things is cool.:p

Looks classy- tell them they are just jealous. And just hope chicks don't borrow it to do their makeup.:p
  7. I heard the celluloid burns pretty good, but other than that I prefer basses with a clear finish and less doodads on it, but it looks good on certain basses
  8. That looks dope. Tellt hose other dudes to kiss it. I had my buddy make me a Diamond Plate guard for my 74 P, it looks great!
  9. As long as you like it leave it. As far as my tastes, it isn't for me, but it is still pretty neat.

I think it is cool. Tell those other guys to go mod their own bass...

And tell them that with feeling.

    It looks absolutely great.
Mind you, I can't stand pickguards.

If you like it, that's all that matters. Screw the locals giving you crap about it. I've got people here that give me crap about playing a Fender and Roscoe through SWRs. I like nice stuff, so that's what I play. You like the looks of the mirrored guard, so that's what you play. Keep it.

    thats what i was thinking

some chrome ashtrays with the mirror p/g would look very nice.

i would have a red tortoise guard or a nice pearloid because it wouldnt really fit my tastes..

i do think it looks pretty cool

Keep the Mirror!!!!! I had a MIM P that had a Mirror & It looks awesome.

    <img src="http://www.talkbass.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=836930">

I also had a LPB Warmoth with a 70's MIJ Fender neck with a Mirror (before the Stsve Harris was introduced) that was killer as well.

The Black with a Morror looks sweet. I have a Schecter Model T with one. Currently it has no neck but I'll get one when I have some extra $$$.

I think the mirror pickguard looks pretty nice. I voted for one of the pearloid ones, because I think a black pearloid pickguard would look really nice on that. I am putting a black pearloid one on my Geddy Lee jazz (courtesy of Nino :)) and it'll look like the picture I am attaching at the bottom. If you like the mirror, keep it! Who cares what the other guys say.
