That's bake sale, as in 103.1 the Buzz's "Bake Sale," a radio sponsored festival concert featuring such national acts as stroke 9, alien ant farm, disturbed, etc. I went in with very low expectations, but I walked out pretty impressed. I didn't even really know many of the acts, being that I'm burying myself with decade-old rock (you know, when it was good again). Anyway, I was impressed (although not amazed) by Sugarcult (although I don't like their radio single), Stroke 9, Jimmy Eat World, and Tantric (the bass player even used a Spector, methinks). All three heavy metal bands really blew, imo. Static X, Drowning Pool, Disturbed....ech. I left halfway through AAF's set. I wasn't looking forward to Sum 41 and I could live without seeing Staind. But the real hi-light of the night wasn't from some band, though. During Jimmy Eat World's set, a relatively small teenage girl climbed aboard another's shoulders. This 9 foot tall beast blocked the view for roughly a dozen people and they were thoroughly pissed. My dad's friend walked over and tried to tell her to get down, but she gestured that she couldn't hear...or understand english or something. Then I climbed onto my dad's shoulders and he walked right in front of the girl and I waved my hands back and forth and stuff as to block her vision as much as possible (I was already considerably larger than her anyway). She still didn't get the message; she only got off when it started raining shortly thereafter. It was thoroughly hilarious. I still can't believe I did it.
Uhg. My guitarist went there, so I didn't get to practice on Saturday...not to mention the fact that IMHO there wasn't a band worth seeing there...
Yeah, I know where you're coming from, Brendan. If I had to pay for a ticket, I wouldn't have gone; that's for sure! The line-up lacked any...what's the word I'm looking for...oh that's it...BANDS I LIKE!! Last year they had the Foo Fighters and I like them a lot . Even the bands I did enjoy this year I wouldn't go and buy any of their CDs. I had my expectations set so low that nothing short of complete disaster wouldn be pleasantly surprising. Maybe next year a band I like will be playing (the chili peppers, foo fighters, and pearl jam are all either finishing up their next records or starting to make new ones......)
i wanted 2 go 2 the buzz bake saele but it was at the mars music ampitheater....that place sucks it's always seats. i wanted 2 go 2 see jimmy eat world (one of my favorite bands) but 40 bucks and having 2 sit down wasnt really worth it
poo, i wanted to go too. I heard that during the Sum 41 set, 2 lesbians chicks were going at it on stage. Also at the techno tent, dudes were trippin of off acid and stuff. Not to mention all the marijuana confiscations. Sounds like a place I can bring the entire family!
