You knew this was coming - reliced cars

I've given thought to vinyl stickers of rust, gaping holes and crumpled metal to give the folks that like to pull out with no space something to think about, but I haven't done it. Perhaps some duct tape in the images as well...

I really like the southwest patina cars from the 40s-70s get. It’s a combo of the sun, sand, and the type of paint.

Northeast patina is just cancer. Makes a car/truck look like a anti-tobacco ad.

This textured brown paint which Heritage Customs is applying to certain panels is nothing compared to what ridiculousness people go through to imitate the southeast patina on their custom weekend rigs, but I’m surprised it took so long to catch on amongst the Oil Princes and Instagrammers.

Pre-ripped jeans and “jeans” (Buckle) have been around forever. Considering that a car is, to many, an outfit, it should’ve been being seen on TVRs, Jags, and Lambos since Madonna’s heyday.

I grew up along the shores of Lake Erie where our rust was legitimate and earned by driving many miles on heavily salted winter roads until the body was more Bondo than sheet metal and the frame had to be welded back together. If I had only known, my 1972 Pinto woody station wagon would be worth a small fortune now.

I actually don't hate it, but the small pre-rusted areas combined with most of the car looking brand new doesn't work for me. I'd like to see more of the relic-ing all over.

It's amazing what people are doing to customize luxury cars these days. I saw a Lamborghini last week that had been painted in black/grey camo. And I frequently see Teslas that are repainted in crazy colors. I guess if you've got the cash to drop, making it your own isn't a big deal.

That doesn't suprise me.
This has been out for a long time!

I actually do think clunkers are cool, I just think you have to earn your way there. I had a friend who had an early 70's Mercedes that was not only a clunker, I'm positive that the rear of the car, from the back seat doors back, was from a wholly different automobile. He ended up selling for a hundred bucks as scrap and didn't even tell me. I told him Damn, I'd have given you at least TWO! Sad, it was.
