On Saturday I had an audition for a new band. When making the arrangements I asked about the size of the rehearsal space and what the other band members were playing through because I have two amps and I wanted to bring the right one. I was told NOT to bring an amp as there was one there that I could use.

I was completely leery and I feared showing up and being told to plug into a 15 watt piece of crap or some similar derivation thereof.

I showed up, met everyone and was escorted over to the bass amp. My eyes fell upon an Ampeg SVT4pro and Ampeg 8X10 cabinet.

I got the gig and was told the amp was mine to use as I pleased.

What were you gonna bring if they didn't have an amp?

A 15 watt piece of crap... no, I have a SWR 350x with a SWR 4X10 cabinet and SWR 1X15 cabinet and a Yamaha combo with a single 15 inch speaker.

I really like my SWR but I have to say that I was VERY impressed with the Ampeg.

So let me get this straight...

You join a band, and scored a new rig?

    I hate you :p

I'd be envious if that was an SVT-CL or AV. Oh well, hope you like it!

Right now just alt. rock covers. I have over 50 original songs that have been recorded. I'd like to work some of this in with the new band.

So, you get to use an Ampeg SVT stack... and you don't even have to move it? Life IS good!!

    I had a similar situation.

When we moved into our new rehearsal space, the room owner told me I could use his all eden rig, or the all aguilar rig, or I could just use my rig (all aguilar as well)....My choice. Sweet.

OK, I'll play Devil's advocate. YOU'RE gonna let these bass-aliens dictate to you... give YOU no choice in the matter... rob YOU of your chosen tone...make YOU the subservient bass BOY???

Yeah, I would too, under these circumstances. ;)
