What type of bass amp(s) do you own and play most?
I voted for what I gig with: an Ampeg B100R solid-state combo. But I probably put as many hours into the amp I keep at the rehearsal space, which is a Music Man HD130 (mostly solid-state pre, except for a single 12AX7 -- think it's an inverter -- and EL34 tube power amp) with a Hartke 410 XL cab.
Before that, I used an Ampeg B15N, which is a tube-all-the-way combo, but then, it's not really a combo in the usual sense....
Aguilar DB-359 - ALL TUBE BABY!!!
Mesa M-2000 Basis - Hybrid
Markbass LMII - SS
I prefer the all tube rig, but the others have their place. I use the LMII primarily for practice at home or small gigs. It has a great standalone tone that makes for very enjoyable practicing. The Mesa is kind of a backup head to the Aggie now. I'm thinking about getting a Mesa M-Pulse 600 or an Eden WT800B as well...
Eden WT800, basicly all SS but there is a tube in the front end.
I also have a little Ampeg combo I've had for a while that I play through all the time at home (and it makes it out to small gigs from time to time- well it used to actually) that is all SS.
- Weber Mywatt 200: all tube (main amp)
- Yamaha BBT500H: digital/switch mode (church amp)
- Epiphone Valve Junior: all tube (bedroom amp)
has both a tube and an ss pre... and the power section has a 12ax7 to drive the power section... so I'd have to vote for several.
There are also the Music man HD heads that are ss pre and tube power...
all tube for me
Eden 400... tube pre, ss amp
Carvin RL1000. SS and SS.
My preamp is a hybrid tube & solid state: Demeter HBP-1
My amp is solid state: Steward 2.1
Was using the Ampeg Portabass stuff with the SVT_DI tube injection... Now settling in very nicely with the TF...so voted the SS route....
1- Chord electronics poweramp and a custom made pre amp.
2- glockenklang soul combo
3- GK MB150s combo and extension cab.
SM-400S all the way! I might eventually go for an SM-900 or 1500 eventually, but for now I'm all good.
all tube all the time.
Analog head with ss preamp & ss power amp: Ashdown MK500
Big gigs I use an Ampeg SVP preamp with a solid state power amp.
Small gigs I use a Peavey BAM 210 combo.
I record using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
Summit Audio TD-100 - tube preamp
Bergantino IP112/EX112 - 1000 watts of SS power!
Main amp is: Ampeg SVT III Pro (Tube pre/SS power amp)
Backup is: Yorkville XS400H (Tube pre/SS power)
I'm not opposed to all tube or SS, just a preference. There are many of these I'd own if the budget permitted.
