    Body: Swamp Ash

    Pickups: Bartolini
    Preamp: Bartolini
     
  3. *I'm not very familiar with the different tones of different preamps, so as long as the instrument sounds good that's fine with me.

    I think i'm starting to think outside my little fender square, really liked the last couple of basses i saw with wenge necks... looks very cool too.

    So far, this is what I like. Im listing two combos though, as I like both, for different reasons.

    The wood.

    Neck: Maple/Bloodwood/Wenge 5pc
    Fingerboard: Maple (w/ Ash body)/White Wenge or Wenge (w/ Mahogany)
    Body: Swamp Ash/Mahogany


    The Electronics.

    Pickup(s): Dingwall FD-3's or Skjold SC-1's
    Preamp: East U-Retro or Skjold/East Custom

    Most all of the basses with which I have been able to sustain a love affair have had alder bodies.

    I have no preference on the neck other than to stay that graphite composite sure has done me well over the past few years.

    As for a FB, it doesn't matter to me much as far as tone. I can't tell any difference that I could actually attribute to the FB. I think the darker ones look better.

    PUs. I definitely prefer the sound of soapbars over anything else.

    As for the preamp, it doesn't matter than much really. My favorite one is the one that doesn't fail in the middle of a gig.
