My personal favorites are the Epiphone Jack casady bass and i really dig the Hofner basses. My Warwick Infinity is not fully hollow but it is a cool bass.Anyone try the lakland semi hollow?. Long Live semihollow basses:)

I didn't get a chance to play it, but I really like this one. I woulnd't mind having the fretless either.

    I'm a Casady fanatic as well ( I have 2 and a half Casadys :)

Had the Lakland HB - very nice playing, very well built & a good-looking bass, but the pickups were too "tame" for me. YMMV, strictly a matter of taste. If they offered something with more "edge" ,I'd likely pick up another one.

I also love this old (1970)Guild Starfire I have, but Alembic fitted it with (trapezoidal)pickups & Series 2 electronics, so it's not really a Starfire in tone.

I restricted myself to the basses with F-holes, but 2 other great basses I own - a Rob Allen MB2F five and an Alembic Series 1, are technically semihollow as well.

(And I'd go for one of those Lawrence Chamber Brases, or maybe an Azola Nouveau or Deco if I could find either one at a price I could afford.)

Did you ever think about getting the G&L ASAT semi hollow?. Do you like Hofner's i know they dont have the f hole but they get the acoustic tone pretty well.

  6. Another vote for the Reverend Rumblefish...cheap, light and fat sounding.

I'm actually building (lol - I have the parts for. . . ) a chambered fretless, I can't wait until retirement so I have time to finish it. I'll post in 25 years.

    hey BT,

i've had parts for a chambered fretless for over 4 years.

    you're not alone.

the first step is admitting there's a problem.

  10. Another vote for the Epi Jack Casady.

After a few months in the case, I just started playing her again - it's like falling in love all over again!

    But...

I wouldn't mind trying the third one down on the left. IN THAT COLOR! Absolutely beautiful!
